The valley of three rivers

Nestled between the Danube, the Hron, and the Ipeľ rivers, this volcanic-soil region lies at 100–250 meters above sea level. It is a beautiful and exceptional wine-producing area, known since the Middle Ages for its viticulture. News of its excellent wines even reached royal courts. The proximity of the three rivers greatly influences the region’s climatic conditions.
Our mission is to revive the Lower Hron Region, a uniquely rich wine area with distinctive flavors. Discover the Világi Winery and the breathtaking beauty of this wine region!

Basilica

Built in a neoclassical style, the monumental church impresses with its vast proportions: the dome rises to an interior height of 71.5 meters, with massive vaults and a grand altarpiece by Michelangelo Grigoletti. On the southern side stands the only surviving side chapel from the medieval cathedral—the Bakócz Chapel, constructed from red marble.

Castle district

The remains of the former royal palace and castle were buried during the Ottoman era and again during the construction of the Basilica, remaining hidden until the 1930s. Between 1934 and 1938, significant parts of the palace were excavated and restored. Archaeological research continues to this day.

Watertown

Watertown (Víziváros) got its name because it was built along the banks of the Small and Great Danube. Remnants of its former fortifications, city walls, medieval bastions, and Turkish rondellas can still be seen along the Danube promenade.
